This Week at Nerdist Theater at Meltdown

Fall is in the air, which means that the air in NerdMelt Theater is slightly less steamy than usual, so we’re making up for the cooldown with a million hot things to do this week. One million.

Tonight at 8pm, for example, is the I Want My Music Television Art Show Reception!

Curated by music video auteur Chris Marrs Piliero, this art show celebrates the art form that is the music video, and of course, also MTV. With over 100 artists, this show will be jam-packed with amazing, and though it’ll be up until October 20th, but trust me, you want to be here opening night.

FREE

Saturday at 7pm is our Comikaze Expo-sponsored party for Joey Esposito’s Footprints!

This event, brought to you by Comikaze Expo, L.A’s first ever Comic Book, Sci-fi/Horror, Fantasy, Anime, Gaming, Tattoo and Pop Culture Convention, is a celebration of the release of Joey Esposito’s book Footprints. We’ll have DJs, a signing, celebrity guests, Comikaze Expo giveaways, and FUN! More details here!

Sunday at 5:30 (that’s a special time) is Matt Mira’s Day Off!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani have both dropped in), and the magic that is live comedy.

FREE

Sunday at 8pm is An Evening with Brendon Burns!

Australian comic Brendon Burns once gave an entire audience magic mushrooms, so we decided he deserved an evening to himself at NerdMelt. His style, well known in the UK, is confrontational, aggressive, and ridiculously funny. He’s won Edinburgh Fringe awards and hearts around the world, and you get a chance to see him for yourself in a rare American headlining gig. You won’t want to miss this. Featuring Kumail Nanjiani, Sean Patton, and Rick Overton!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door

Monday at 8pm is the return of Justin Willman’s Magic Meltdown!

After an amazing first show, this magic show that’s so much more than a magic show is BACK! A Variety Show: Magicians, Comedians, Bizarre Guests. Hosted and curated by Justin Willman. With special guests Dan Levy and Derek Hughes.

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Tuesday at 8pm is another dose of Enter Spider!

It was so fun, so bizarre, and since so many people requested it…. he’s doing it again!
You’re entering a stand-up comedy show on the edge of time and space; in a place where light and shadow are often mistaken for a biracial gay couple; where the lineup of comics are from all walks of life… and death. There is no two drink minimum here, there is only the maximum occupancy of the Imagination! You are entering… ENTER SPIDER.

$8 in advance, $10 at the door

Wednesday at 8:30pm is The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail

Our popular weekly showcase, hosted by Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani, welcomes Sean Patton, Christian Finnegan, Eli Olsberg, Rob O’Reilly, Giulia Rozzi, Moshe Kasher and Nick Thune!

$8!

And Thursday at 8pm we welcome the return of Two Thumbs Way Down!

What’s better than watching a horribly bad movie with your friends? How about watching a horribly bad movie with a bunch of comedians. It’s Two Thumbs Way Down, where LA’s best comics present you with bad movies, you pick the winner, and then they rip it to shreds. Since Halloween is coming soon, this month’s Two Thumbs Way Down will feature the best worst horror movies you’ve ever seen. Come cuddle up on the couch with hosts Eli Olsberg and Rory Scovel as they welcome panel guests Pete Holmes and Kumail Nanjiani!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door

That’s our week for you! Come on down to check us out (we’re starting to amass a lot of arcade games for you to play), buy some comics, and live life to the fullest. You can also check us at our site, buy all tickets here, and follow us on Twitter! And if you see a redhead running around like crazy, say hi! It’s me, Emily, Program Director of NerdMelt!
