This Saturday, KEY & PEELE’s Keegan-Michael Key Hosts The Detroit Party at Largo LA

Attention Los Angeles! For those who like to laugh and do something good for your fellow man, this message is for you. This Saturday, November 1st, join Key & Peele‘s Keegan-Michael Key as he hosts The Detroit Party: A benefit for The Detroit Creativity Project.

Presented by Laugh on Behalf, the live comedy show features Marc Evan Jackson, Thrilling Adventure Hour‘s Paget Brewster, Silicon Valley‘s Thomas Middleditch, and Kumail Nanjiani! The show’s musical guest will be Martin Starr with Common Rotation (Adam Busch, Eric Kufs, Jordan Katz) as well as Sara Watkins and Allee Willis.

The Detroit Creativity Project offers free training in improvisational theater to Detroit middle and high school students. Their mission is to empower and inspire young people through improvisation — an art form that helps students build confidence and develop a creative and collaborative approach to their lives. Their program The Improv Project has trained over 600 students to improvise since 2012.

Faced with a challenging economy and tightening budgets, schools nationwide have substantially reduced funding for arts programming. The Detroit Creativity Project (DCP) was founded in 2011 by working artists who believe that arts education provides a critical element of learning for all students, and is not an expendable part of the curriculum. Whether painting, playing music, or taking the stage, the arts allow students to develop skills they need now and in the future.

The show is being held at Largo LA at 8PM with doors opening at 7PM. To purchase tickets and review Largo’s seating policy, click here. If you don’t live in Los Angeles but want to donate to DCP, follow this link.
