“You might need this.” “I think I can handle myself.” “That’s why I’m giving it to ya.”
That exchange between Han Solo and Rey (with some awesome footage of Rey kicking some major ass mixed in) is just one of the great little goodies found in the newest TV spot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the ominously titled “Secret.”
Why is it a secret? Well — that’s still part of the mystery. It starts with Finn screaming, “Are we really doing this?” and we’re fairly certain that whatever “this” is perhaps part of the mystery (and apparently includes BB-8 taking a nasty little bump, poor ball droid). A darting Millennium Falcon, an enjoying-this-way-too-much Poe Dameron, plus Kylo Ren being scary, and this commercial is exactly the sort of burst of pure The Force Awakens excitement we needed today. With less than nine days to go before the December 18th premiere, we can safely say we are definitely ready to do this. Even if not everyone is as prepared for the new journey to begin.
It almost doesn’t seem real, does it? We’ve been trying to figure out who these commercials are for at this point. Because really, does anyone really not know a new Star Wars film is opening this month? But maybe they aren’t trying to make sure we go see it, they are just giving us enough nourishment to feed our excitement, like a reward for loving this story so much.
It’s no secret we crave it.
