Letâs just ask the question we know youâre all thinking: why are Phil Lord and Christopher Miller not running all of Hollywood at this point? 21 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, Brooklyn Nine-Nine…Â these guys can make a great thing out of even the most seemingly unwinnable situations, so of course we should expect nothing but excellence out of the duoâs latest work, a follow-up to 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street. Today, we offer you a brand new clip from the opening of the film.
Man, do these guys know how to shoot an action sequence.
It was very obvious at certain points in 21 Jump Street where the crew simply ran out of money. Not surprising, as the budget was only $42 million. You can only pull off so many big action sequences on a budget like that for an R-rated action/comedy. However, it appears thereâs been a definite money increase on 22 because this scene alone looks like it cost a pretty penny. Also, it has a Channing back-flip onto the roof of an 18-wheeleer. Anything that has a Channing back-flip onto the roof of an 18-wheeler is an automatic win in our book.
Lord & Miller are geniuses and thus far, everything coming out of this sequel continues to support that notion. This is going to be one to watch out for in the summer.
22 Jump Street hits theaters June 13th.
