2015 had plenty of overarching themes: Donald Trump, Drake, Adele, and water on Mars, to name a few. Another is what people in the past thought the future would be like. More specifically, people were obsessed with comparing 2015 as it was depicted in the 1989 movie Back to the Future Part II with how the progression of time actually turned out.
It turns out that Back to the Future Part II isn’t even close to being the only movie that tried to predict what the world would be like years down the road. According to Robert Jones, there are at least 44. That’s how many movies he included of his supercut that features “the future” as depicted in various films.
For the record, the most hilarious take has to be Johnny Mnemonic. If you’ve never seen the film, it’s worth a watch. At least check out the trailer, in which Keanu Reeves claims he can “carry nearly 80 gigs of data in my head.” Wow, we’re super impressed.
