The characters of Adventure Time are universal. They can seemingly be mashed up with any other franchise and look like they belong. It must be the magic of the Land of Ooo. See, candy can have a positive effect! We’ve seen Finn and co. in movie posters, in Game of Thrones, and now, they’ve moved into the world of Gotham. Artist Volatile-Vertex has used his 3D rendering skills to make the lovable characters heroes and villains. Fan art is the best.
Volatile-Vertex created the series to celebrate Batman’s 75th anniversary, and I find it to be an excellent present. Finn is Batman, Jake is a gargoyle, Princess Bubblegum is Batgirl, the Ice King is Mr. Freeze, Gunter is the Penguin (of course), King Worm is the Mad Hatter, and BMO is Alfred. Oh my glob, the execution is spot on. The art is clean and lovely, and the designs – from the expressions to the accessories – are just right.
I find all the renderings to be fantastic, but BMO as Alfred is particularly clever. The sneering expression is a nice contrast to BMO’s normally cheerful face, and the controller on the serving platter is perfect. Now I want BMO to dress up in an Alfred costume on the cartoon.

I’ll just be over here crossing my fingers that someone makes this official and works with the artist to turn these images into vinyl figures because how awesome would that be?
