Ewoks. You’d think Ewoks would be universally loved. They look like cuddly, lovable teddy bears and they toddle around in an adorable fashion. But, no. The creatures that first appeared in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi are both loved and hated. I fall somewhere towards the latter camp because hello, they were going to eat our heroes for dinner, but David Mizejewski is an Ewok advocate. He likes the furry residents of Endor so much that he made an impressive diorama of the Ewok village. Whatever my opinion on the subject of the model, I can’t say anything bad about this much enthusiasm.
Mizejewski wrote about his Ewok feelings for Boing Boing last month on World Ewok Appreciation Day (yes, there’s a day for everything). He talks about receiving the Ewok action figures when Return of the Jedi was released in theaters and getting the seriously cool Ewok Village playset. His toys eventually got packed away, and he forgot about them until last year. When Mizejewski went through his old toys he decided on the best possible course of action and rescued them from a dusty old box and displayed them.
That was all it took to reignite his interest. Soon, his collection of Ewok figures grew thanks to eBay. He wanted a better way to display them, and the Ewok Village diorama was born. He used a mix of items he purchased at craft stores and items he gathered from the woods. The forest backdrop is a piece of art from Ikea. Flip through the gallery to see some of the details:
Mizejewski clearly put a lot of love and care into making a cozy and earthy home for his Ewok figures. My boring shelves suddenly seem like an inadequate place for my toys.
Head to the comments and let us know how you feel about Ewoks and this diorama.

Thanks for featuring my Ewoks! Super awesome to have Nerdist cover them.
