YouTube sensation and British inventor Colin Furze has been posting entertaining and super-dangerous videos to his channel for some time now, and we can’t get enough of them. We’ve seen him give himself Marvel-ous superpowers, conjure up some Mad Max-style fury, and even bring an Assassin’s Creed videogame weapon to life. Furze’s latest creation comes from that latter sub-category since he’s now engineered a weaponized arm seen in the Square Enix game, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
While the game’s publisher came to Furze requesting a real-life take on protagonist Adam Jensen’s augmented arm, they were more interested in a weaponized version than the more practical prosthetic that’s already in the works. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the videogame franchise or its latest installment, Jensen is a covert operative who sports a veritable Swiss Army Knife for an arm, one that contains lethal and non-lethal weapons like “a detachable nano-ceramic blade, a protective nanoshield, and a fist-mounted electro-shock system akin to modern-day Tasers, utilizing prongs that pop up on his hand from between the knuckles, injecting the enemy with electricity.”
For Furze’s creation, the fully functional, weaponized arm contains wrist-fired rockets, ballistic knives, and a Taser. And rather than just being satisfied with building a gauntlet of working weaponry, Furze also delights in putting it to the test. Toys are one thing; this device disintegrates a drone with a well-placed rocket shot, drives flying blades deep into a dummy’s head, and threatens to zap any viewers who get too close, so it’s worth saying: Don’t try this at home!
