This Actual House Is Made Entirely of Chocolate

As technology evolves, it has a broad impact on every facet of society. New computer equipment changes the way we approach the world, new ideas change the way we think about art, and new approaches to building materials and philosophies change the way we think about architecture. Buildings today are more efficient and functional than they’ve ever been, and now they’re also reaching all-time high levels of sweetness. Booking.com recently teamed up with master chocolatier Jean-Luc Decluzeau to create an honest-to-goodness house that’s made entirely of chocolate (via Neatorama).

The specs behind the house are incredible: It’s about 200 square feet, and it was created using around 3,000 pounds of chocolate, which, for reference, is about how much a small or medium car weighs. Much like the unusual houses built by the three little pigs, though, this one presents its own upkeep challenges so it doesn’t end up like the palace Willy Wonka built for Prince Pondicherry. The temperature has to be carefully regulated, which isn’t too challenging thanks to the house’s location in France’s L’Orangerie Ephémère glasshouse. The house was actually available for booking for only $60 per night, but naturally, interest was great and the limited availability filled up pretty quickly.

“I never thought I’d have the opportunity to build a life-size Chocolate Cottage for travelers to sleep in,” Decluzeau says. “I’m excited to collaborate with Booking.com and to share my passion for chocolate. I hope guests will relish the chance to experience such a sweet and unique place to stay.”

Chocolate’s great, but what else would you like to see a house made out of? Share your wildest dreams down in the comments!
