Things Get Complicated in the ZOOTOPIA Honest Trailer

All hail our Youtube overlords, Screen Junkies, as they have blessed us yet again with another hilariously brilliant Honest Trailer. This trailer’s focus, everyone’s latest animated obsession, Zootopia. As the trailer says, this was the animated movie that finally allowed us all to look at our obsession with Frozen and, you know, let it go (I’m so sorry…).

While the movie is filled with lots of great lessons about prejudice for both kids and adults to learn, the trailer does point out a few things about the movie that make you see the entire thing in a bit of a different light. Starting with the existence of Zootopia. Seriously, what exactly is Zootopia? Where are all of the humans in this world? Does this movie just take place in an alternate universe where animals evolved and humans never really became a thing, or is this a town that is built upon the horrific ruins of a once-thriving civilization? It’s probably better not to think about it, but it definitely adds a bit of a dark undertone to the shining city where you can be anything you want.

One of the best things about this movie is the lesson it teaches against bigotry. Of course, because Honest Trailers is so… honest, I guess, it makes sure to highlight the potential dangers of teaching this lesson through strangely attractive animals. The trailer essentially warns that if you show your kid Zootopia, you’ll either make them a kind, tolerant adult, or start them on the road to being a furry super early. So, you know, keep that in mind…

What do you think of the Honest Trailer for Zootopia? Do you agree with their assessment of the movie? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
