Star Wars has been around for a few decades, and it’s still inspiring creators. It’s evidenced in the plethora of fan art on the web, and artists are continually putting their own mark on the galaxy far, far away. Filipe Carvalho was introduced to Star Wars as a kid, and the films inspired him to “create great and passionate stories that have the potential to capture the public’s eye and heart.” He channels that inspiration into copywriting and also into art. Carvalho’s responsible for a set of striking graphics that feature characters like Yoda, Princess Leia Organa, Chewbacca, and Emperor Palpatine.
Carvalho turned to Flat Design – an interface design that’s focused on flat colors and simple elements – to create the minimalist illustrations, and the style works so freaking well. Each icon may only be a head made of a few colors with a long shadow, but the simplicity of the art sings. I know it’s fan art, but these icons would look so good on a blanket or on coffee mugs or on t-shirts… basically everything.

This isn’t Carvalho’s first geeky project either. He tackled a mash-up earlier this summer that put Game of Thrones and the World Cup together. Titled “Game of Goals,” the project highlighted motivational posters that showed different countries as houses.
