In 2010, Universal Orlando opened itâs wildly popular attraction, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. In 2016, Harry Potter will finally arrive at Universal Studios in Hollywood.
Today, Universal Studios officially announced that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open in spring 2016, with a recreation of the popular dark ride, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey; which will be remastered in 3D-HD.
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Michael Gambon, Tom Felton, Matthew Lewis, and several other cast members from the Harry Potter movies filmed new scenes for the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride, which brings fans inside Hogwarts castle for a brief adventure that includes a dragon encounter, the Whomping Willow, and even a Quidditch match.
The surrounding area of Hogsmeade village will include eight stores inspired by the Harry Potter films and novels: Honeydukes, Ollivanders, Owl Post, Zonkoâs Joke Shop, Wiseacreâs Wizarding Equipment, Dervish and Banges, Gladrags Wizardwear, and Filchâs Emporium of Confiscated Goods. For hungry visitors, the park offers Three Broomsticks, and Hogâs Head pub, in addition to Magic Neep and Butterbeer carts.
For younger Harry Potter fans, the family roller coaster, Flight of the Hippogriff will also be recreated for Universal Studios.
Universal Orlandoâs recreation of Diagon Alley, and the Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts roller coaster ride are not currently part of Universal Studiosâ Harry Potter attraction plans. But given their popularity, they may eventually be added as well.
