If youâve missed the gritty realism of The Wire and the great cast of character actors that let you intimately learn about Baltimore, The Paley Center has a great opportunity for you to revisit the show that has been off air since 2008. On October 16th, members of the cast will reunite for PaleyFest in New York City.
Show creator David Simon and executive producer Nina Noble will reunite with Wendell Pierce, Sonja Sohn, Seth Gilliam, Jim True-Frost, John Doman, Lawrence Gilliard Jr, and Jamie Hector for the panel. We’re told Dominic West will be contributing a special video taped introduction to the panel. He’s probably off looking for a fish with fellow Wire alum Idris Elba if IMDB is right.
The Wire ran for 5 seasons on HBO with more than 60 episodes that allowed audiences to see the city of Baltimore from all angles. It has been praised for the realistic portrayal of complex issues that face law enforcement, businesses, educators, journalists and different communities in the city, as well as the productions decision to shy away from big celebrity names to fill out the cast.
PaleyFest New York City will run from October 11 to the 19th at The Paley Center in Manhattan. So far, the announced television shows that will have panels include The Walking Dead, Archer, Law & Order: SVU, Bobâs Burgers, Blue Bloods, Gotham, Hannibal, and Marvelâs Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Tickets for the events are on sale now at PaleyCenter.org though tickets for The Wire Reunion will not be available until October 7th, 9th, and 10th for patrons, members and the general public respectively. If youâre in New York City the week after New York Comic Con, this is exactly the kind of event you do not want to miss out on!
