From Neal Hefti’s 1996 goofy-yet-awesome TV song, to Hans Zimmer’s darker music, Batman’s themes have always been memorable—and Batman: The Animated Series was no exception. Premiering in 1992, Shirley Walker’s theme was definitely influenced by the Danny Elfman classic from the 1989 Tim Burton theme while maintaining its own identity. Thanks to the Warp Zone, we can now listen to a different version of the theme as the above video shows the group performing it a cappella.

In preparation for the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Davis, Odom, Fish, Ryan, and Schro paid a wonderful tribute to what many consider being the definitive on-screen version of Batman (Check out Kyle Anderson’s Batman: Reanimated column to find out why).

Go ahead and listen to Warp Zone’s version above, then check out below for the original theme. You will soon realize that they are pretty spot on.

Generally, when people think of movies or characters, one theme comes to mind. Star Wars. Superman. Jaws. Indiana Jones.
