I don’t know about you guys, but when I played through the first season of The Walking Dead game (if you haven’t, skip to second paragraph now, SPOILERS), I made sure to expose the harsh realities of the world to Clementine. I taught her killing isn’t bad when it’s necessary for survival. I taught her that it’s every person for themselves, before pillaging an abandoned car for food and a hoodie to keep her warm. I made her make the “tougher” decision at the game’s closing. This was largely due to a speech that old man Chuck gave in episode three of the first season, in which he warned Lee and the gang of Clementine’s vulnerability and her need to learn to survive in harsh conditions.
This speech is revisited in The Walking Dead: Season Two‘s premiere trailer, which just went live today. You’ll see in the trailer that even though Clementine has gotten a little older, the world around her has gotten a lot more cruel and she’ll be having intense moments of struggle similar to those experienced by Lee in the first game. You’ll also see some familiar faces from TWD: Season One (Yay, Christa!) and TWD: 400 Days. It’s quite gripping for anyone who’s invested any emotion or time into the series, and after today’s trailer, I’m inclined to say that your body will never be as ready for this game as it is upon viewing this.
Tell me you didn’t feel that one in your soul. Episode one of season two, “All That Remains,” is scheduled to be released this month on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC/Mac, and iOS.
I taught Clem to show compassionate and to spare those that aren’t undead. I taught Clem not to take things that didn’t belong to her and I taught Clem to fight that threatens from within as well as without.
I’m not sure I’ve recovered enough from season one.
I can’t believe it, but even after all this time, seeing Duck choked me up a little.
