THE WALKING DEAD Season 5 Clip: Don’t Bring a Baby to Zombie Territory

Babies are wonderful little bundles of joy. Unless you’re in the midst of a couple of dozen walkers, in which case, they’re portable, pooping zombie alert systems.

That seems to be the message in this season 5 clip for The Walking Dead. In it, survivors Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman) and Carol (Melissa McBride) are attempting to make their way through the forest with Rick’s baby daughter Judith in tow. Can they make it through without little Judith doing what babies do best: flipping out in a crazy outburst of tears?

Of course they won’t and of course she will.

The end of the last season saw the group split up and on the run, with part of Rick’s band of survivors making their way towards what they hope will be salvation in Terminus, but which might, in fact, be a hideout for a band of hungry human cannibals. And if Tyreese and Carol make it there with Judith, they might just find out that baby is what’s for dinner.

For fans of the comics, there’s kind of a ticking clock when it comes to Judith – the infant didn’t survive the prison after being shot THROUGH HER MOM while Rick’s group was fending off the Governor’s attack. Will the showrunners have a plan for her beyond “little ball of tragedy?”

Will Rick be reunited with Judith? And in the aftermath of last season’s episode, “The Grove,” can Tyreese and Carol take any more hard choices and child deaths? What other terrible things could possibly happen to this group of characters before we all lose it?

Still getting ready for Season 5? Don’t forget that on Tuesday, July 8 at 10PM (8 central), AMC will broadcast the one hour documentary Inside the Walking Dead, which we detailed over the weekend. Plus, the latest Talking Dead episode offered a preview of the fifth season with guests Scott Gimple and Aisha Tyler.

First off, showrunner Scott Gimple explains why you won’t see any naked zombies on The Walking Dead:

Then Tyler and Gimple talk about those three questions that will determine what keeps a person alive in the aftermath of the zombies:

Finally, during a reader mail segment, Gimple explains how the series keeps the human characters scarier and more dangerous than the walkers (hint: if you survive the end of the world, you’re probably going to be pretty dangerous anyway):

The new season of The Walking Dead will premiere this fall on AMC.
