THE WALKING DEAD’s Negan is Getting His Own Book

By now one of the most iconic villains in pop culture, The Walking Dead‘s Negan is getting his very own book. Published by Skybound Books (a co-publishing imprint of Atria Books), The Quotable Negan will be a massive 128-page full color collection of The Walking Dead antagonist’s most memorable quotes from the comic book series. As a character who’s defined as much by his crassness as his cruelty, there’s certainly no shortage of “colorful” one-liners to pull from.

As profane and horrific as Negan can be, though, he also has moments of insight. “Seeing all the vulgar and irreverent things that Negan says compiled into one book is simultaneously hilarious and disturbing,” says The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, “but even with all the awful stuff he’s said and done, there are some unexpected nuggets of wisdom and humanity in there, making him a surprisingly complex character. My only hope is that fans have just as much fun reading him as I have writing him!”

The Quotable Negan will also include Image Comics’ standalone story “Here’s Negan!”, which gives insight into who Negan was before the apocalypse hit. The story follows Negan back when his wife Lucille was still alive and when he worked as a gym teacher, up until he obtained his now trademark leather jacket and barbed-wire baseball bat. It’s an intriguing backstory that further complicates and even humanizes the villain.

The book will be rounded out by a slew of fun facts about Negan’s reign of terror, and will also include an introduction by Robert Kirkman himself.

The Quotable Negan will be released on July 3, 2018. Pre-orders for the book begin today, April 3, 2018.
