The Walking Dead Escape Returns to Comic-Con

It was a shambolic, blood-gushing hit at last year’s Comic-Con, and The Walking Dead Escape, the official obstacle course from the hit AMC television show, is back for seconds. For two gut-wrenching evenings, Friday July 19th (tonight!) and Saturday July 20th, San Diego’s Petco Park turns into a massive survival course. Guests can sign up to be zombies, survivors, or just to witness the carnage as the giant game of high-stakes tag goes on around them. Think you can outrun a zombie? Think you can rack up more human casualties than anyone? Then try your hand… before it gets bitten off (figuratively, of course; there’s no actual violence).

A 35-50 minute survivor slot is $75 and runs every twenty minutes from 5:00pm to 10:00pm; zombies can shuffle for 2.5 hours and a slot is $80, and participants will get pro makeup applied. Watchers are $15 online by Friday at midnight to go in one of the waves.

You can get yourself geared up for the run by seeing Chris Hardwick moderate The Walking Dead panel Friday at 1:35pm in Hall H. The roster of stars includes actors Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, David Morrissey, Scott Wilson and Chad Coleman, new showrunner Scott Gimple, executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Dave Alpert, and Emmy-winning special makeup effects maestro Greg Nicotero.

  1. Dan says:

We got to run The Walking Dead Escape 2013 and had a blast. We made it through uninfected. We recorded a HD POV video showing off the entire course.

    Anyone else do it?
