The Valentine’s Day Gift Your State Searches For More Than Any Other

Love is in the air and dinner reservations have been made, but you are very nervous about what that special someone in your life got you this year after last year’s two-person sweater debacle. Well, depending on where you live you just might be able to guess–and better prepare feigning happiness with your present–thanks to this map of Valentine’s Day gift ideas that your state Googles more than any other.

This map from the folks at the Estately Blog isn’t about which gift your state searches for the most, just which items your state searches for more than any other. So don’t worry lovers of South Dakota, you are probably going to get candy or flowers and not a JCPenney Portrait…but you’re more likely to get that than the folks in North Dakota.

I love these state searches maps. If someone just made them up they wouldn’t be as funny. I mean, it’s 2016 and the good folks of Mississippi are looking up “Mixtapes.” In New York apparently plenty of people think there is such a place as a “Romantic Motel.” Because nothing says “I love you” like the elegant class of a Valentine’s Day motel. I literally don’t know what’s going on in Idaho.

I do have to call out the results for New Mexico though. “Hickey?” That’s not even a gift, it’s just a pain in the neck (yes!). I mean, West Virginia leads in “Cheap Gifts” and that’s not nearly as embarrassing as “Hickey.”

While the fine citizens of Iowa enjoy their tandem bike rides, we’d love for you to tell us which state results surprise you the most in the comments below.
