We all know and love that iconic opening song. From the beginning swells of “Dun-dun-da-na-nuh-nun-da-na-nuh-nun-da-na-nuh-nun” as the phrase Game of Thrones scrolls across the screen, you’re immediately in it; transported to another world in a different time and place from our own. So it’s no surprise that the popular HBO series puts out a soundtrack of its music each and every year. But given the darkly devious turn the series has taken â to say nothing of the music â this one might just be the most exciting.
Available for pre-order now, its official release date is July 1. Impressive and famed composer Ramin Djawadi handled producing and composing many of the songs in addition to those done by others, like the Sigur Ros version of “The Rains of Castamere.”
First up? A full version of the Daenerys theme for this season, “Breaker of Chains.” Unsettling and ominous, innit?
