Itâs almost here guys! Our weekly dose of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is almost back with the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. set to kick-off this Tuesday. Recently, weâve seen a lot of excellence from the series, mainly in the form of still photographs and short promos. But now, with only days to go, ABC has unveiled an all new clip from the season premiere, and the best part? It features the warrior princess herself, Lucy Lawless, in full blown action, you know, the thing weâve all being waiting patiently to see since the news first broke:
Based on the context of the clip, weâre gonna say itâs safe to assume this comes from the beginning of the episode, and this sceneâs telling us a lot about not just where the characters are at the start of the seriesâ sophomore run (hiding in the shadows like they used to before the days of Iron Man and The Hulk), but also where the show stands these days.
Simply from a looks perspective, everything about this clip is visually better than just about anything we saw in season one. The camera work is much cleaner, the lighting is more dynamic and the action bits feel much more fleshed ou. On top of that, it appears everyone has a role to play, and we have to say, watching Coulson run things from a top the shadowy mountain like a badass overseer is exactly what we were hoping to see when the prospect of him taking over for Fury as S.H.I.E.L.D. director was first presented.
Pretty soon, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wonât be the only Marvel Television player in town with Agent Carter and Daredevil right around the corner, so weâre really glad things appears to be shaping up nicely for the series that started as nothing but an experiment to see if Marvel could really do transmedia television right.
Also, there’s this sweet new key art ABC just released for the new season:
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, September 23rd at 9/8c on ABC.
