The STAR WARS Prequels Had a Lot of People Die in Them

Sure, the Star Wars prequels may have killed a small part of you, taking a piece of your soul and stabbing it until it was dead, but at least you didn’t literally lose your head because of them, like so many characters in the movies did. In fact, it turns out those three movies were full of a lot of on screen death, and no one was safe, from the lowest of life forms on Tatooine, to the greatest Jedi Masters on Coruscant.

This video, made by the folks at Digg, shows every death that was actually shown on screen from The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. Well, not droid deaths, because in the galaxy far, far away you can be a heroic, sentient robot, but that doesn’t mean you are a person. It’s kind of weird.

We know the Jedi Order was decimated after Chancellor Palpatine’s Order 66 went into effect, and that Darth Vader killed all those younglings, but man, what kind of miserable existence did the clones have? Not only were they only bred to fight a war they had no attachment to, they were killed en masse without anyone ever seeming to care one iota, and that includes both fellow characters and viewers alike.

The final numbers come in at 123 individuals killed, with 3,105 killed in exploding ships. That’s a total of 3,228, which compared to the unfathomable amounts of people killed in the two Death Star explosions alone seem down right safe.

Of course, the only character we absolutely wanted to see die got to live (or did he?). Weesa still angry about that one.

Who had the best on screen death in the Star Wars prequels? Tell us in the comments below.
