THE SILVER CHAIR Will Reboot THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA Films

In 2010, The Chronicles of Narnia film adaptations came to an abrupt end following the release of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. But the long winter for Narnia fans is almost over. At the TCA press tour, producer Mark Gordon let it drop that they’re “hoping to be able to make [The Silver Chair] very shortly. We’re very excited about it.”

The Silver Chair was the fourth novel in C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia series. And while the original story is a sequel to The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Gordon described the upcoming adaptation of The Silver Chair as a reboot of the film franchise with none of the original cast members returning.

“It’s all going to be a brand new franchise,” Gordon told Collider. “All original. All original characters, different directors, and an entire new team that this is coming from.” Gordon later clarified that the new “original characters” will be from Narnia.

The original story of The Silver Chair followed the second Narnia adventure of Eustace Scrubb, the cousin of the Pevensie siblings from the first three novels. In it, Eustace and his classmate Jill Pole find themselves transported back to Narnia five decades after Eustace’s last visit and given a quest to find and rescue Prince Rilian, the son of King Caspian.

Given that Will Poulter has aged out of his role from Voyage of the Dawn Treader, it’s not shocking that Eustace has to be recast. Who would you like to see in the film adaptation of The Silver Chair? In Aslan’s name, leave a comment below!
