The film trilogy that some die hard bat-fans never thought possible truly closes the door today with its release on Blu-ray, DVD, and digitally today. The Dark Knight Rises properly ends the story that Christopher Nolan set out to tell when he started with Batman Begins. There’s much to love in The Dark Knight Rises, especially if you are a Selina Kyle or “No Man’s Land” fan. The “Gotham in the real world” starts to lose a tiny bit of its believabilty towards the end of this one, but it’s a visually fun ride getting there, and there really is no excuse for not having this movie in your collection.
This release of the final entry into Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy also includes The End of a Legend, an engaging behind the scenes featurette in three parts, “Production”, “Characters” and “Reflections.” “Production” contains mini-docs about specific scenes throughout the film from the car chases to the fight choreography, “Characters” delves into the writing and creation of the story through character development, and “Reflections” offers a great look back at the closing of the saga, with cast members talking about everything from their memories of working with Nolan (EW has a clip of this section) to first impressions on the set. Also included is a documentary on the history of the Batmobile, with a hyper-detailed look at the creation of these epic cars and our fascination with them. A second screen app that syncs to your Blu-ray and opens up more bonus content is included, and a Special Edition set includes a broken cowl.
Also out today is The Dark Knight Trilogy, a boxed set containing all three Christopher Nolan Batman films. It’s the perfect opportunity to upgrade those DVD copies of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight to high definition glory. It’s also a great gift for the cinephile you know that prefers boxed sets to single discs. (There should be a name for that. It’s a borderline condition.)

The Adventures of Mark Twain – Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, and Becky Thatcher come face to face with their creator in this claymation classic. The film actually gets a little intense and dark at several points, and plays better now than when I was a kid.
