Happy May the 4th, Star Wars fans! In celebration of today’s joyous holiday, I Am Shark has announced the upcoming limited edition vinyl release of the Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith original soundtrack. The clothing line/record distributor also pressed the soundtracks for both The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. This latest release marks the first time the Sith soundtrack has ever been available as a standalone vinyl recordâas reported by Entertainment Weekly.
The 1,000-copy first pressing will feature the freewheeling, quadruple lightsaber-wielding grump, General Grievous. The color schemeâas seen belowâwill alternate between transparent kelly green and opaque cyan, and the double LP’s gatefold jacket depicts fearsome images of Darth Vader and Palpatine. Subsequent pressingsâalso limited to 1,000 copiesâwill feature other characters from the movie.
John Williams scored the film, of course, as he’s done for each of the existing Star Wars episodes. To match the growing strength of the dark side, the five-time Oscar winner made the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack notably darker than its predecessors. It was originally released on CD in 2005 alongside the film. The upcoming vinyl issue arrives on June 15; pre-order it here.
