The Pee-Wee Herman Art Retrospective of Your Dreams Opens at Meltdown, Dottie

There’s a lotta things about him you don’t know anything about, Dottie. Things you wouldn’t understand. Things you couldn’t understand. Things you shouldn’t understand. You don’t wanna get mixed up with a guy like him. He’s a loner, Dottie. A rebel. Unless, of course, you’re going to see his art show. In which case you’ll really want to get mixed up in it.

Pee-Wee Heman‘s wacky world of weirdly wonderfulness is getting the homage in art treatment starting on Saturday, July 19th — and if you’re in or around Los Angeles you’re definitely going to want to check it out. Dubbed Paging Mr. Herman: A Pee-Wee Herman Art Retrospective, the man with the plan and a fairly good memory of the Alamo will have artistic license all up on a bevy of paintings, sculptures, photos and more to pay respect to everyone’s favorite playhouse.

And from 7 – 10PM at the Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics in LA (7522 Sunset Boulevard, 90046), fans can imbibe in a few free bevvies while monkeying around in the Pee-Wee’s Playhouse-inspired photobooth while enjoy all the wonders that art homage from 50 talented artistic folk have to offer. And ain’t that just the best?

So hop on your bicycle (or, you know, get in a car — that also works) and head on down to the Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics and get your art on. The exhibit’s run is short and sweet — July 19th – 25th — so don’t miss out… unless you like feeling super left out.

We’ve even got some sweet, sweet previews of what’s going to be on hand in double-clickable form, below! Who loves ya, baby?
