Let’s be real: there’s few things that fascinate us more than cults. There’s something so captivating about someone’s über-evangelism, whether it surrounds a brand, personality, or religion. It’s unsettling to think that someone’s belief in some all-encompassing train of thought blindly trumps all else. Which is why we were so jazzed to watch Hulu’s latest series The Path. Who doesn’t love to take a peek behind the curtain of a group of fanatics, regardless of how normal and run-of-the-mill they may seem on the outside.
So we asked stars Aaron Paul, Hugh Dancy, and Michelle Monaghan come up with the cults they’d belong to and/or start if they had their way. (Spoiler alert: one involves pizza.)
We also spoke with the gang about their characters’ motivations while navigating a cult on the brink of such change, and what they think about the mindset of people who worship in cult and cult-like) settings:
The Path takes a look at a high-ranking family and the cult to which they ascribe as they traverse a whole slew of changesâincluding leadership and an increase in notoriety. As they struggle with relationships, power, and the dynamics that come into play when faith is tested, the true nature of some of its most ardent believers comes to light …and yes, it does get creepy. Created by Jessica Goldbergâin conjunction with Jason Katimsâ True Jack ProductionsâThe Path‘s 10-episode season begins Wednesday, March 30. Catch it on Hulu and let us know which of these cults you’d join in the comments below!
