You’ll have to dig into your crate of 45s to hear other bands that sound like the Parrots. The Madrid trio, comprised of Diego García (vocals / guitar), Alex de Lucas (bass) and Larry Balboa (drums) play some primordial garage rock that’s redolent of ’60s groups like The Monks and 13th Floor Elevators—just two of the grizzled bands that have inspired the Parrots’ sound. Their music isn’t simply derivative of a bygone age, though. It’s filled with that modern exuberance that’s given garage rock new life this past decade, as well as the clarion production value that didn’t exist during the first go-round. Plus, they pull off a certain youthful irreverence that’s fresh regardless of era.

Today, Nerdist premieres] the video for the band’s single, “Let’s Do It Again.” The Parrots dropped us a line about the song and the video’s creation:

“Directed and edited by our favorite internet boy Pablo Amores. this is a virus.fifa that will get inside your mind and won’t leave until you reset it. The song is about friendship and loyalty and how sometimes its just like a computer trojan and makes you do things under the moon that you’ll be totally ashamed the next day. <3”

And indeed, the video has that nonplussed aesthetic of a great night out on the town. Amidst glitchy, lurid overlays are shots of the Parrots wandering around in the night, beers in hand. The last bit of the video triggers unrendered computer screens to pop up, perhaps representing the depths of some dark alleyway during the blacked out moments from the end of the night.

En masse, the clip feels like retracting your footsteps the morning after, that hazy recollection where nothing is quite clear. But even with the hangover and the fuzzy memory, it all carries a feeling of a good time had. It was weird. You probably aren’t going to tell anyone else about it. But it felt good. So good, in fact, that you turn to your late-night cohorts with only one thought: “Let’s Do It Again.”

The band’s debut record Los Niños Sin Miedo is due out on August 26. Until then, spin this track and have memorable (or semi-memorable) nights.
