THE ORIGINALS Kicks ‘Always and Forever’ to the Curb in New Season 3 Trailer

You know that old saying, “Always and forever?” Well, turns out that “forever” might be defined a bit loosely when you’re over a thousand years old.

While that motto may not ring any bells outside of The Originals fan base, to Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt/Maisie Richardson-Sellers), those words are law. It shaped their entire lives. Well, that is…until now.

Klaus may have sinned against his siblings many, many times before, but that’s nothing compared to what he did to them at the end of season two. Just to name one tiny, minor transgression: he killed Elijah’s girlfriend Gia (Nishi Munshi) right in front of his face, just to prove a point. NBD.

Add to that the fact that Klaus couldn’t care less that the mother of his child and the girl Elijah loves, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), is currently cursed to be stuck in a wolf’s body all month long until the full moon when she can become human again for only one night, and Rebekah has skipped town to go who-knows-where, and it’s clear that the three Original siblings have never been more distant from each other. And the timing couldn’t be more terrible.

The Originals

The CW just released the official first look trailer for season three of The Vampire Diaries spinoff series, and the family drama is about to get bloody intense. As hard as Klaus tries to be “the thing that men fear,” turns out that he might just fear losing his family even more. Is it just us or does he actually have tears in his eyes when he says to himself, all alone in the Mikaelson compound, “Always and forever indeed?” Does Klaus have — gasp! — actual feelings underneath that tough, sociopathic exterior?! We never thought we’d see the day.

But there’s no time to dwell on feelings, because when season three picks up, each of the Originals’ individual sire lines, aka all the vampires each one of them have turned over the centuries, come calling. They show up in New Orleans not for a family reunion, but actually looking to start a war with their makers. Could this bloody vendetta from their “kids” be just the spark that the Originals need to mend fences with each other? Because their sired offspring might have found a way to kill them without the white oak stake … Yikes. There really is no time like the present to forgive, forget, move on and team up, huh?

The Originals

However, it’s Freya’s (Riley Voelkel) ominous warning at the end of the season three trailer that is the most terrifying, chilling part of the entire video: “You will all fall.” Who is she talking to? Her Original siblings? Or the sire lines taking on the Originals? Gah! This trailer is only making the wait for the season three premiere on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. that much harder to bear.

Are you looking forward to seeing Klaus get what he deserves this season on The Originals? Or are you still rooting for him against all odds to get a happy ending with his family? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
