The Official DEADPOOL Comic-Con Trailer is Here in Glorious HD

Update: Evidently, there were a few scenes from the Comic-Con trailer that were omitted in this version. Whatever, it’s still fun. Also, here is the green band trailer:

The life cycle of a Comic-Con trailer is somewhat predictable: first come the blurry, pixelated cell phone videos. Then comes the teaser for the trailer, hosted by Deadpool himself. Finally, the world premiere of the red-band trailer debuts on Conan, which changes its rating to TV-MA for one night only in order to show it. Typical, right? Well, that’s exactly what happened with Deadpool and now the Comic-Con trailer for the Ryan Reynolds-starring superhero flick is here in glorious HD.

So, how did this stack up to the Suicide Squad trailer? While David Ayer’s antiheroes were the darlings of the post-SDCC deluge, Deadpool manages to feel like director Tim Miller and company actually brought the comic book to life. Given that it essentially brought the project back to life, it is fitting that much of the footage that leaked at last year’s Comic-Con worked its way into this trailer. With his extensive background in VFX, Miller transformed the test footage into a truly badass ballet of death and destruction.

Though we get glimpses of Colossus, Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa Carlysle, Ed Skrein’s Ajax, and Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead, the focus is decidedly on Wade Wilson and his transformation from handsome man about town to more-than-slightly unhinged mercenary for hire. There’s even a jab at Green Lantern thrown in for good measure! Because suck it, fourth wall.

T.J. Miller, however, definitively steals the show as Weasel, Deadpool’s sidekick, emotional punching bag, and information broker. Rattling off one-liner after one-liner, Weasel describes Wade Wilson’s messed up face in ways we could only dream of. One thing is for sure — it definitely looks like Deadpool is making the most of its R rating, and thank goodness for that.

While Deadpool is definitely, for sure, 100% happening, that wasn’t always the case. So, in its honor, take a look back at 9 other Marvel movies that weren’t so lucky:
