The New ZELDA Game Is A DYNASTY WARRIORS Mashup

You didn’t read the headline wrong, ladies and gents: Nintendo announced a new upcoming title, codenamed Hyrule Warriors, during their Nintendo direct event this morning. The game stars The Legend Of Zelda‘s leading man Link, and features the same crowd-dismantling hacking and slashing that the Dynasty Warriors series has become known for. But please, don’t take my word for it:

Hyrule Warriors is set to release sometime in 2014 for the Wii U. The President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, emphasized that this is not an installment in the Legend Of Zelda series, but rather a collaboration with the folks at Tecmo Koei. Dynasty Warriors isn’t as popular here in the states as it is in Japan, but anything Link is a part of has to be amazing, right? If anything, this should serve as a good hold-over until Nintendo announces a true Legend Of Zelda sequel for the Wii U.

In fact in Zelda PP could be specialized with both real and made up powers to even out the sides you choose like in BFME you could summon the Balrog when playing as the Golbins and summon The Army Of The Dead as the Men which both lasts a few minutes.

The Balrog is almost invincible except against the Army of the Dead which wipes anything out in it’s path in seconds sadly including Balrogs.

Zelda could have powers like that where you could summon a rain of arrows on a specified path or as Gerudos summon desert creatures to temporary aid you.

Finally a news site/blog that actually lets me actually comment! WHOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! God finding sites that allows comments using FaceBook are SO hard these days. 🙁

Anyways is this game going to be as solid as Battle For Middle Earth or am I looking at a completely different genre?

In BFME instead of controlling individual soldiers you control entire battaions that uses up command points like Battalion one uses up 10 command points out of 200 to start off with 10 soldiers in the group.

    http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/312168-the-lord-of-the-rings-the-battle-for-middle-earth-ii-windows.jpg

Here is a screenshot of a typical group set up playing as Goblins in BFME2 with Shelob as a Hero. 146 command points are used out of 350 and 8 power points available to spend.

You don’t EVER *camp* in the game. Instead you send Battalion number explore a part of the map that is still masked and maybe uncover and fight a random group of wild goblins for extra $$ and they will automatically fight while you go back to you’re first battalions and start setting up the resource structures on various build sites.

Then there will be *powers* you earn for fighting enemies known as PP in which the more groups of PP you fight the faster the PP rises.

In a similar game for Zelda
Link could be a Hero you summon when you have enough money and when he is Ranked up to 3 he can summon Epona to crush nearby enemies but Epona is very vulnerable to Pikers and Archers especially Fire Arrows she is out pretty quick unless you get her to safety or have Link dismount and fight ground combat.

A special Power could be to Summon Goron Allies that lasts 2 minutes on the playing field in which you control the Gorons and they roll and crush enemies on a pathable location. Gorons resist fire damage but suck against Pikers with spears when in formation against the Gorons.

The Gorons will be man slaughtered pretty quick against spears unless you use you’re own Archers against the spear throwers to protect the Gorons while they are still active.

Link and Zelda would be Heros on the Hylian faction while Darunia will be the Hero for the Goron faction with his own abilites which I am not sure what that would be as I am not a Zelda geek. :p

This video made me think of that last charge down to save Princess Zelda in SS. I may have to pick up Orochi 3 Hyper to see if I like the gameplay. Hopefully we’ll get more than one playable characters, or at least reskins of Link. I’d like to see some Fierce Deity Link action.

I really do wonder how this game will do. From what I’ve read Zelda isn’t very popular in Japan either.

They did the same thing with Pokemon a couple years back on one of the DS iterations.

seems like everything nintendo releases lately is a hold-over. 3d world feels like a hold over until a true galaxy predecessor title is released..i guess theyre all better than nothing but nintendo needs to stop appearing to be lazy.. they knew the Wii U was coming since 2009. they should have stellar in house titles by now. Havent gotten a full fledged one yet. Wind Waker….another hold over. stop with the holdovers and give us the good stuff!!!.. all im gonna say is that if the wait is this long, these long awaited titles better be UNBELIEVABLE
