UPDATE: Disney has released official images from the trailer! Check them out in the gallery below.
Sooooo, we just watched the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer on the livestream…
After so much anticipation of what will be shown and spoken about during the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel at Star Wars Celebration, we had to endure 5 minutes of the moderator, Entertainment Weekly’s Anthony Breznican, telling us about seeing The Empire Strikes Back in Pittsburgh when he was 4. WOW, WHAT A STORY…
At any rate, once J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy took the stage things started looking up. As each tantalizing minute ticked by, we and about a million fans worldwide waited with mouths watered, delighted by R2-D2 and BB-8(!!!!!!) in reality and talks from Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega (without actually saying anything), even the new Stormtroopers, Anthony Daniels, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, and Mark Hamill, but we all really wanted beyond anything to see the new teaser trailer… and then we did…
HOLY CRAP, you guys! Here’s what we saw in that live-streamed version of the teaser:
1) Rey (Ridley) passing by the wreckage of a Star Destroyer
2) Darth Vader’s charred and mangled helmet
3) Artoo on a fiery planet with someone who is apparently Luke and his robotic hand
4) Someone handing Princess Leia (presumably) a lightsaber
5) X-Wings flying as Poe Dameron (Isaac) whoops and hollers
6) Rey and Finn (Boyega) running from a ‘splosion
7) A whole bunch of Stormtroopers, including one with a cape
8) Kylo Ren’s masked face
9) New TIE Fighters and things
10) Stormtrooper Finn being upset about stuff
11) TIE Fighters chasing the Millennium Falcon through a wrecked ship.
12) HAN SOLO AND FRIGGING CHEWBACCA!!!!! They’re home!!!
WOW! We may have missed something in all our gleeful smiling excitement, but that’s the big stuff we saw.
We’ll go through the trailer point by point once we’ve watched it a zillion times, but for now. let’s all bask in the glory of what a new Star Wars trailer means for us. Now, at least, we can look at both teasers back to back for the next several months until a full trailer is released.
