The New “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” Trailer, Now With 70% More Tatum

GI Joe: Retaliation was pulled from schedules last year only weeks before it was about to come out. Paramount had decided that it a) needed to get a 3D upgrade to take advantage of Jon Chu’s visual style and b) the film needed more of the Dwayne Johnson/Channing Tatum bromance that test audiences were raving about. The new trailer certainly features more Tatum, but we’re not sure how that translates to how much time he’ll be off the bench in the movie. Quick looks at Bruce Willis being snarky, Lady Jaye in action and Snake Eyes’ giant ninja battle has this looking like the GI Joe movie we wanted the first time around.

The Official Synopsis:
G.I. JOE: RETALIATION
A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO, commenced the di Bonaventura production of G.I. JOE RETALIATION.

In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Brian Goldner, from a screenplay by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe® characters. G.I. Joe Retaliation hits theaters in real D 3D & Digital 3D on March 29th, 2013.

I wasn’t a fan of the first one, but I’ve always been a fan of the GI Joe cartoon and comics as a kid. And the last two trailers for this are looking great.
