Where once he was nothing more than a man with no first name in Iron Man, Clark Greggâs Agent Phil Coulson has slowly grown into a fully realized character within the MCU, and one of the final pieces of his private life is about to be revealed. Fans will remember during The Avengers, when it was mentioned that the top S.H.I.E.L.D. agent was in a relationship with a cellist, and you’ll recall that she was again mentioned in the series by Raina, who said Coulsonâs lover, now named Audrey, âcried for daysâ after his death at the hands of Loki.
According to TV Guide, in an upcoming episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. slated to air on April 22nd, the mystery woman will finally make an appearance, and she will be played by Whedon alum Amy Acker. As described in the report, âA talented musician turning heads in Portland, Audrey believes Coulson to be dead and has no idea that he’s guarding her from a distance as a super-powered threat from her past re-emerges.â
The context of her appearance is currently unknown in relation to the MCU as a whole. Itâs currently rumored that events in the upcoming Captain America: The Winder Soldier will play a key role in the future of the series, so who knows what that means for Coulson and his team in future episodes….
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on April 1st at 8/7c for the final seven episodes of its freshman season on ABC.
