The Magicians returns to Syfy tonight for its third season, so today on Nerdist News Talks Back we conjured up something specialâthe cast, live in our studio! But if that wasn’t magical enough for ya, we also celebrated with some lovable huggable bunnies, who just so happen to play an important role in the new season.
Filling in as host today was Nerdist managing editor Alicia Lutes, and she was joined by Bizarre States’ Andrew Bowser. They welcomed Stella Maeve who plays Julia Wicker, and Olivia Taylor Dudley who plays Alice Quinn. But we didn’t just have a bunch of random bunnies on for no reason (though we might do that in the future), these furry little fellas play an important role this year. What could it be? Be warned, because in talking about the road to season three this conversation is full of spoilers for the first two.
After the way last season ended, how hard will it be to get magic back this year? What is the fallout of a world without magic? What’s it like to play a magician who hasn’t lost her powers in that world? What was it like to work with Felicia Day? What can we expect from her character? Are they ever worried their characters went too far? How would they describe this season? And what can we expect from their journeysâboth literal and metaphoricalâthis year?
We also got lots of fun questions from you guys, like is it more fun to play a “good” or “bad” magician? Would they swap if they could? And what kind if version of Alice are we getting this time? What’s the one spell from the show they wish they could cast in real life? And what prop from the set do they most wish they could (or did) take?
As always don’t forget Nerdist News Talks Back airs live at 1:00 p.m. PT to our YouTube and Alpha channels every weekday, that way you can be a part of the show. It’s always a magical experience when you’re a part of it, although today with the cast of The Magicians that was more literal than usual. Minus the humping bunnies that is.
We still want to hear from you though, so share your thoughts on today’s show in the comments below.
