“Look, a girl!”
“Yes, I can see it’s a girl, you fool.”
“What if she is the one?”
The world has been waiting for the live-action remake of the animated Disney classic Beauty and the Beast since the summer of 2014, when we got word that Bill Condon was attached to direct. Now, a teaser trailer has been shared, and it sure is heavy on the teasing.
The 90-second glimpse is really more a look at one of the film’s primary locations, Beast’s castle, than anything else, with apropos dramatic music to boot. We do hear Lumiere (played by Ewan McGregor) and, presumably, Cogsworth (played by Ian McKellen) exchange the above dialogue, and get a glimpse of Belle (Emma Watson) gazing at a rose.
While the teaser trailer doesn’t offer much in the way of new information, it does show how visually stunning this movie has the potential to be. And besides, it’s not as though we don’t all already know the story front to back.
Additionally, most of the cast has already been revealed: Beauty and the Beast features Dan Stevens as Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as LeFou, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, and Stanley Tucci as the grand piano Cadenza, a new character.
Back to visuals for a second, though. We unfortunately don’t have any new photos to show you, but Gad did post this photo of a portion of the principal cast about a year ago:
We also know a bit about the music. Alan Menken was the composer of the original movie, and he’s back it at for this one. About a year ago, he revealed that the movie will include new songs, a couple of which are titled “Forever More” and “Days in the Sun.”
Check out the trailer above, and let us know in the comments if you’ve shaken off the goosebumps yet.
