Yes, the work week is finally over. Time to stop thinking about the daily grind and start focusing on a little fun and frivolity. We’ll try to help get you started in today’s Movie Morsels, which has a new image of the Power Rangers and their iconic Zords. Plus, a new Spider-Man: Homecoming action figure swings online, A Nightmare on Elm Street star Robert Englund becomes Freddy Krueger yet again…and more!
Power Rangers
It’s morphin’ time! We’ve seen our fair share of photos of the metal-suited heroes from the new Power Rangers reboot over the last few months, but what of those oh-so-cool armored assault vehicles in which they ride? The best image yet of the mighty Zords has arrived in the film’s latest poster, courtesy of the good folks at Lionsgate. Gaze upon these ginormous automated dinosaurs, and imagine how epic the mighty Megazord they form must be!

Spider-Man: Homecoming
Just based on his appearance in last year’s Captain America: Civil War, it’s a safe bet that Tom Holland’s web slinger in Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the most visually dynamic Spidey we’ve yet seen on screen. He’s already inspired a cutting-edge action figure, which swings our way from Japan’s Medicom Toy. A part of the company’s MAFEX line, this little guy can be pre-ordered on the Medicom website.
Nightmares in the Makeup Chair
You probably thought you’d never live to see the day when 69-year-old Robert Englund played ’80s horror phenomenon Freddy Krueger once more, right? Well, Englund’s not exactly playing the “bastard son of a thousand maniacs,” but he is getting into character as Freddy again in the new makeup effects documentary Nightmares in the Makeup Chair. You can check out the trailer below…

Overlord
Bad Robot’s supernatural World War II-era film Overlord has finally nabbed itself a director. Julius Avery, who made his feature film directorial debut when he worked with Ewan McGregor in the crime thriller Son of a Gun, will helm the J.J. Abrams produced fantasy, about two paratroopers who fall behind enemy lines and battle supernatural forces resulting from a “secret Nazi experiment.” The film is based on an idea by Abrams and Hunger Games screenwriter Billy Ray, the latter of whom wrote the screenplay.

Ghost in the Shell
In today’s “In Case You Missed It Yesterday” stories, there are plenty of high-profile movies presenting previews during this weekend’s Super Bowl game, one noteworthy entry being the live-action Ghost in the Shell. Small wonder, since the cyberpunk classic always was ahead of its time. Take a peek at the Super Bowl trailer here.

Wolverine/Deadpool
With Ryan Reynolds applying pressure to Hugh Jackman to make a Wolverine/Deadpool movie (though maybe Ryan would be just as happy if Hugh agreed to grab a few beers and perform some karaoke with him), fans might be wondering what form such a movie could take. Our own Jessica Chobot offers some theories in Nerdist News.

The Lure
Finally today… If, like so many of us, you’ve long thought that the world’s problems could be solved by a really good mermaid horror musical, then it’s time you got excited for The Lure. The film marks the debut of Polish director Agnieszka SmoczyÅska, and our own Michael Arbeiter gives this trippy and hellish Little Mermaid four out of five burritos in his review.
