The Latest CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Trailer Reveals New Footage

With the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe mere weeks away, there isn’t a Marvel fan out there that isn’t champing at the bit for more info on Captain America: Civil War. Thus far, the trailers have given us basic plot points, team lineups, and a few glimpses at the action we can expect in the film and the latest trailer is certainly no exception.

With the short 30 second trailer above we get a surprising amount of dialogue from both Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Falcon as to where they stand on the impact of super powered individuals. There’s still a bit of reused footage from previous trailers but it’s interspersed with some fairly emotive lines. We get a bit of what could be the last polite conversation between the two leaders with Cap pleading, “The safest hands are still our own,” while a moment later an emphatic Tony Stark says, “I’m doing what has to be done,” in what appears to be in the same meeting room.

What makes the Civil War storyline so compelling is that there are valid points to both sides. Is liberty more important than safety? Do the powers that be have everyone’s best interests in mind? Neither side is completely right nor completely wrong in this fight and it parallels so much of the real world that it’s hard to not have an emotional connection to what’s going down on screen.

What has us most riled up in this new trailer is Black Panther pulling down Cap’s shield. It makes for a nice visual parallel to the Winter Soldier’s close-quarters attempted assassination of Tony Stark from previous trailers.
