THE LAST JEDI In-Home Ad Teases 14 Deleted Scenes

A major complaint from the spoiler-phobic among us is that a movie’s theatrical trailer can show you too much of the plot, even containing scenes from the finale. A lot of times it doesn’t necessarily matter, but sometimes you see the movie and realize you were retroactively spoiled. What I love is the trailer for the home media release of that movie, some months after the theatrical release, will spoil just about everything. All of the time spent keeping a movie’s plot and surprises a secret go completely out the window; case in point, the in-home media trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

It should go without saying at this point, but this trailer has some major spoilers for the movie, so if you still haven’t seen The Last Jedi, do not watch this, and wait for March 17 when it’s available digitally.

Aside from spoiling tons of Luke Skywalker, including his final confrontation with Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma’s death scene, and even showing the Yoda moment (a reveal that was spoiled by some oblivious film critic), the trailer lets us know about a number of extra features we’ll get if we grab the digital copy or Movies Anywhere download on March 17, or the physical media (which is my preference; come at me) on March 27—namely 14 deleted scenes and a feature-length making-of.

The Last Jedi was already the longest Star Wars movie of all time and had to cover a ton of ground and characters to do it, but I felt (if you read my review) that most of the story arcs were successful. I imagine we’ll get some more of Luke and Rey on the island, and hopefully some more of Finn and Rose’s mission to Canto Bight, because if any part of the movie felt underdeveloped, it was that. The Force Awakensdeleted scenes were all pretty boring, so I hope this isn’t like that; although, alternately, if there are really awesome deleted scenes, we’ll just be mad they aren’t in the movie.

What characters or storylines do you hope we get more of? Let us know in the comments below!
