With E3 only weeks away, Sony is already gearing up for the big industry event with new footage of the highly anticipated title from Japan Studio, The Last Guardian. The new footage released as part of IGN‘s First series features the nameless boy and his hybrid pet Trico (who I still find to be kind of creepy looking) interacting with one another. Director, Fumito Ueda, also discusses the process of bringing Trico to life, and making this fictional creature feel like an actual living thing, rather than an AI.
It’s an interesting watch that does give us an insight into how important the developer thinks it is for players to bond with Trico. Take a gander at the clip above for more!
After incorrectly predicting that The Last Guardian would launch in 2015, I truly believe that after seven years of waiting, this is the year it will finally hit shelves. There’s no way the title is going to get delayed past 2016. No. Way. Revealing more about the title leading up to E3 has to mean that Sony is finally getting ready to make the big announcement.
This new look at the game actually appears to be similar to the footage that was shown off behind closed doors at last year’s E3 (minus the developer commentary). So, if you’re curious about that, check out our coverage for a better understanding of Trico and its bond with the boy.
Does this new footage make you want your very own bird/cat/dog creature? Does it freak you out as much as it does me? Do you think we’ll be getting a release date at this years E3? Let us know in the comments below. It’s starting to feel like E3, folks!
