The JUSTICE LEAGUE is Getting a Manga Series in Japan

Batman and Superman are both known around the world as two of the greatest superheroes, and Wonder Woman is well on her way to joining them as her first solo feature expands internationally. But in Japan, many of DC’s other comic book superheroes simply aren’t as well known as their teammates in the Justice League. However, that may be about to change.

Via Sora News 24, DC is teaming up with Japanese publisher Akita Shoten to produce a Justice League manga for the Champion Red monthly anthology series. Manga artist Shiori Teshirogi is handling the adaptation, which has been rebranded as Batman and the Justice League. While the manga has apparently re-envisioned DC’s iconic heroes, it also appears to be taking its cues from the New 52 lineup and their Jim Lee designed costumes. Joining Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are the Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Cyborg, all of whom have been given manga-style makeovers.

Justice League Manga

As the new title suggests, the story is apparently very focused on Batman. According to the initial report, the Justice League comes together to deal with the Joker and his team of supervillains while Batman has to decide whether to accept his place on the League or stubbornly maintain his status as a solo hero. That sounds more like a plot for LEGO Batman, but we are very curious to see these characters through a new perspective.

The first installment of Batman and the Justice League was released in the most recent issue of Champion Red. There’s currently no word on when (or even if) the adaptation will be published in America. But we wouldn’t bet against it!
