We told you earlier this year about our exciting partnership with Ashley Eckstein’s geek clothing company, Her Universe: a fashion design competition for the geekiest couturiers out there. Now we’re excited to present to you the finalists for the competition. Out of over 150 applications, Eckstein has selected 36 cosplaying designers to flounce their frocks beyond the halls of San Diego Comic Con’s metaphorical runway and onto an actual, real-live runway on July 24th.
The event — a first for both Her Universe and the Con itself — is scheduled to take place during SDCC on July 24th at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego (only a short walk from the convention center). Fashion retailer Hot Topic will be providing two grand prizes for the winning fashion designers — including an opportunity to co-design (with Eckstein) an exclusive Her Universe fashion collection for Hot Topic.
