The GHOSTBUSTERS Ecto Cooler Is Officially Back and Better Than Ever!

It’s here, the day we’ve been waiting for – The Gatekeeper and the Keymaster have finally come together to summon forth the one thing we’ve been waiting for all these years. Yes, I’m talking about the return of Ecto Cooler to our supermarket shelves!

It turns out the rumors were true and i09 has clued us in on the details. The popular Hi-C product that;s been in retirement for years is making a triumphant comeback for the Paul Feig Ghostbusters reboot hitting theaters this July.

For those not in the know, the product was created as a tie-in with The Real Ghostbusters animated series in 1986, and the drink was so popular it stayed on the shelves 10 years after the cancellation of the show. The fan base for the drink is huge; for years, people have been trying to recreate the recipe from scratch and even petition for its return. It is considered the nectar of the gods, and by gods, I obviously mean Gozer The Gozerian.

Hi-C Ecto Cooler will be sold in 10-packs of 6-ounce juice boxes, and in 6 and 12-packs of specialty aluminum cans. The cans will be printed using thermal ink that turns an eerie shade of slime green when the product inside is cold.

Yes, interactive cans. It just keeps getting better. No word on whether the drink formula has changed but the amount of sugar in the ingredients is still probably enough to power the Ecto-1… which would be a timely, eco-friendly update.

This being modern times, Ecto-Cooler has even jumped on the social media bandwagon with a newly launched website and Facebook and Twitter accounts, which we, of course, followed immediately.

Will you be buying Ecto Cooler by the truckload? I know I will. Let us know in the comments!
