THE FLASH Gets Some New Duds For Season 2

After Stephen Amell showed off his new Arrow costume at San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. and DC have released the first look at Grant Gustin in his new costume for CW’s The Flash.

The outfit is not too drastically different than the one from season 1, expect for one major piece. The lightning bolt emblem on his chest is now a golden bolt over a white dot, much like the classic look from the comic books. With the washed out/back-lit style the picture has, it’s obvious that the only really important element to the new suit is the emblem. Some eagle-eyed fans may remember that the fight through time between Flash and Reverse Flash in the first season had Barry sporting a costume with a white emblem on his chest. This is interesting since the first season costume had a red emblem. With the white emblem now making its official appearance in season 2, there is a chance we may revisit this fight at some point in the season.

It seems to be an unwritten rule these days that any movie or television show based on a comic book property will have a new costume for the protagonist in each subsequent movie or television season. Hell, Daredevil didn’t even wait for season 2 to break out the new threads. The outfit from the first season was not really anything that needed to be messed with, and it is nice to see that it has remained mostly untouched. The emblem was apparently a point of contention with some fans, but let’s be honest, if that was all the haters could pick on then the show has nothing to worry about.
