The First Official HELLO KITTY Convention Is Coming to Los Angeles

It’s hard to believe, but Hello Kitty has been around for 40 years. The character was first introduced in Japan but has infected the entire world with cuteness. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the first alien beings we encounter know about Hello Kitty. Sanrio doesn’t have to do much to advertise or market the lovable character, but in honor of her 40th birthday, they’re holding the first ever official Hello Kitty Convention later this year. Spoiler: there will be more adorable than any one person can handle.

Hello Kitty Con

Hello Kitty Con is happening from October 30th – November 2nd in Los Angeles. Rather than taking place in a boring convention center, the Sanrio event is happening at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Little Tokyo. It’s nestled into downtown L.A. which means parking will be tricky, but a subway station is nearby so public transportation is an option.

Ticket prices are set at $30 per day for adults (ages 13 and up) and $20 per day for children (ages 6-12). That’s standard for conventions, but I’m curious about how much they can pack into the Geffen. Sanrio states they’ll have “interactive experiences and events for fans and friends of all ages, including activities, art, exhibits, exclusives, workshops, lectures, panels, sneak peeks, tattoos, food, fun, and many more surprises!”

I have a hunch the exclusives at this convention will go faster than anything at Comic-Con. Hello Kitty fans are dedicated in a way few fandoms are.

Will you be attending Hello Kitty Con? Let us know your thoughts about the convention that will kill everyone with cute in the comments below.
