The First Episode of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD: FLIGHT 462 Takes Off

Ahead of the first season finale of Fear The Walking Dead, AMC debuted the first episode of the 16-part web series, Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462. It was short, sweet, and not yet full of zombies.

The first episode of Flight 462 (above) is about one minute and twenty five seconds long, and it is remarkably light on details. Only one character is referred to by name: Jake, the teenager who spends most of the episode on the phone with his mother. But there is some additional information. From Jake’s phone we know that the flight is prepping for takeoff at 4:57am, and that the passengers are noticeably on edge. Jake’s conversation with his mother reveals that his father is waiting at their destination and that she missed her chance to get on Flight 462. And judging by the way that their conversation ends, Jake’s mom may be facing a zombie attack.

We can also infer that Jake knows the young woman sitting in front of him, but from the way she averts her eyes from his gaze, they are probably not friends. Another rumor on the plane is that all flights have been grounded, which is an order that may have been ignored by the crew of Flight 462…because they start getting ready for takeoff even before the airline safety video comes on.

The second episode of Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462 will debut on AMC.com on Sunday, October 11, and the final episode will coincide with the sixth season finale of The Walking Dead in 2016, revealing which character from the web series will go on to become a series regular in Fear The Walking Dead season two.
