We got The Falcon. We got one of the most versatile actors in the biz. We got the writer/director of some of your very favorite movies. We got the guy tasked with rebuilding a major league baseball team from the bottom. This is going to be an interesting week at the Nerdist Podcast Network (subject to schedule changes), so let’s get to it:
Anthony Mackie is dropping by the Nerdist Podcast this week to talk with Chris and Matt about the MCU, including what to expect from the next two flicks with some details you haven’t heard elsewhere. But there’s also talk about sports, underwear, favorite movies, and cars (Matt and Anthony go in-depth on Volvos, which is fine with me as an S80 driver).
Also on the Nerdist Podcast: Colin Farrell, on a bonus episode coming Thursday. Colin is promoting The Lobster, an unusual (to say the least) film about love, intimacy, and humanity, and he talks about that, and the meaning of life — the difficulty of growing up in public, how kids change you, how sobriety changes you.
Shane Black is on The Writers Panel this week. Iron Man 3, Lethal Weapon (1 and 2), the new The Nice Guys. He’ll have a lot to talk about.
This week on The Jonah Keri Podcast, Jonah visits Atlanta Braves General Manager John Coppolella for a talk about the nuts and bolts of running a major league team and rebuilding a franchise. You might know how an unusual number of teams are trying to rebuild from rock bottom right now, and how the Braves are experiencing a rough start this year but have some exceptional prospects developing in the minors, some homegrown and some via trades (Dansby Swanson, your day is coming). This one’s essential for anyone interested in working in baseball, or baseball in general. Friday’s episode hasn’t been completed yet, but if all goes as planned, you’ll meet Ben Lindbergh and Sam Miller, the two analytics guys who were handed the keys to run an independent minor league baseball team and lived to write a book about it, “The Only Rule Is It Has To Work.”
And more, as always, so go to the Nerdist Podcast Network homepage and Facebook page, and subscribe, subscribe, subscribe. They’re free and they’re good, so there’s that.
