The game that everyone is hoping embodies the origins of the survival horror genre has finally gotten its release date. Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s latest work, The Evil Within, will be hitting the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, 360 and PC on August 26 in the U.S. and August 29 in Europe.
This — the announcement that The Evil Within is set for an August 26th release — is kind of a big deal for fans of scare-your-pants-off games, given that Shinji Mikami is regarded by many as the godfather of the survival horror genre. In the game, players will assume the role of Detective Sebastian Castellanos, who sets out to do a bit of crime scene investigation, only to get clobbered and awaken in the center of a mysterious structure ridden with creatures from hell. As you can imagine, the game will have you uncovering the mysteries of your surroundings outside of merely just trying to stay alive.
Here’s a look at the latest gameplay trailer from The Evil Within, which I highly recommend watching outdoors or in an area with a lot of people nearby, unless, of course, you’re okay with peeing on yourself.
OMG! Cannot wait! This looks awesome.
