The DIVINITY: ORIGINAL SIN II Campaign Rakes in $2 Million, Game Master Mode Unlocked

The Kickstarter for Larian Studios’ Divinity: Original Sin II campaign ended today, successfully raising a whopping $2,032,434 for the upcoming PC title. The funds came from 42,713 dedicated fans around the globe. With the developer also receiving donations via PayPal, we’re sure the donations surpass the listed figure–which is pretty amazing in and of itself.

Anyways, reaching the $2 Mil marker means the campaign made it to the final stretch goal Game Master Mode, which allows players to craft their own dungeons, and alter features on the go as your friends play. You will also be able to manipulate the environment in your attempt to demolish them. You could also give them a fun, less stressful experience, but where’s the fun in that?

In addition to the new mode, the other stretch goals have made the following possible: Chris Avellone joined as writer, Strategist Mode, which tests the abilities “of even the most seasoned veterans,” was added, The Undead will be a playable race, a new location called “The Hall of Echoes”, which is set in the land of the dead, will be one of the playable areas, and finally, Love & Hate relationships will be added to bring another layer to the roleplaying experience.

Beyond the campaign, the developer invites fans to GOG.com–a site that was given the opportunity to create their own character after donating $10,000–where they’ll have a say in the build of the site’s character. It’s cool enough that GOG is getting a chance to design a character, but is even better now that folks like you and I will have a say in what they make.

If you’re sitting here wondering what the heck Divinity: Original Sin II is, you’ll be able to play the Enhanced Edition of the first game on PC, PS4 and Xbox One next month. Not only has controller support been added to the game, but those who pick this one up will also be treated to voice-overs, enhanced visuals, new quests and characters, a different ending, and even split-screen play.

As of right now, the developer is looking to release Divinity: Original Sin II in December of 2016. Are you planning on picking it up? Let us know in the comments below.
