The Director of THE NUN Had a Terrifying Supernatural Experience On Set

Have you ever felt like you’re being watched? The director of The Nun, the latest entry in the ever-expanding Conjuring Universe, certainly did. While filming the upcoming horror movie centered on one of the breakout baddies from The Conjuring 2, director Corin Hardy had what he describes as his first ever supernatural experience. It was so unsettling that he didn’t tell his easily-spooked star Taissa Farmiga until months after it happened when they were filming on-location in Romania.

At a recent press day in Mexico City (in a haunted convent, naturally), Hardy told Nerdist’s Markeia McCarty all about his creepy encounter with potential future monsters within the Conjuring Universe. Nerdist also sat down with stars Taissa Farmiga and Demián Bichir to talk about potential sequels, the logistics behind one of the film’s most horrifying sequences, and much more.

Here is the film’s official synopsis:

“When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in ‘The Conjuring 2,’ as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.”

Directed by Corin Hardy and written by Gary Dauberman, The Nun stars Demián Bichir, Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, Charlotte Hope, Ingrid Bisu, and Bonnie Aarons. The film hits theaters on September 7, 2018.
